Design Narrative
In crafting the design for the 30th-anniversary logo for The Dance Company in St. Augustine Beach, I aimed to capture the essence of three decades of grace, passion, and artistic evolution. The design works to seamlessly blend the iconic company logo with a dynamic portrayal of a dancer poised against the backdrop of a wave from the original logo, symbolizing the continuous flow of creativity, energy, and commitment that defines the company’s journey.
The logo design is anchored in the company’s rich history and commitment to artistic expression. The incorporation of the original logo serves as a foundation, representing the company’s enduring identity and the strong legacy it has built over 30 years. The dancer’s silhouette gracefully intertwines with the logo, symbolizing the symbiotic relationship between the performers and the company’s core values.
The central figure in the logo is a dancer in a pose that radiates elegance and strength. This dancer is not merely a representation of movement but is an embodiment of the countless artists who have graced the stage over the years in St. Augustine Beach. The flowing lines of the dancer’s form convey the seamless integration of artistic disciplines within the company, from classical to contemporary, mirroring the versatility that has defined its repertoire.
The chosen color palette harmonizes with the company’s existing branding, incorporating their signature hues to evoke a sense of familiarity and unity. The deep blues of the ocean and sky, create a visually stunning composition that is both vibrant and timeless.
As the company celebrates 30 years of artistic excellence, the anniversary logo serves as a testament to the dance company’s enduring legacy. It encapsulates the journey of the past, present, and future, celebrating the harmony in motion that has defined the company’s existence. This design narrative aims to encapsulate the essence of the dance company’s remarkable journey, paying homage to its roots while embracing the fluidity and innovation that will carry it into the next era of performance artistry.
For the recital Greatest Hits promotional items I wanted to create something that brought in dance elements from great music hits such as Michael Jackson. The red and black was my original color scheme utilizing design elements that have been seen from early 2000s album covers and pop icons. However, knowing that the last recital colors involved red I decided to create a second version of my designs utilizing a light blue that helps to tie in the dance company’s colors. I created this design with utilizing both music and dance as key elements for greatest hits.
